In the second installment of the open colloquium MEDIA SOUP, computer graphics veteran Prof. Robin Forrest will speak about "War and Peace and Computer Graphics". In the 1960s, Forrest was a founding member of the Cambridge CAD Group and authored the first paper on computational geometry. His re-working of Bézier curves can today be found in Adobe Illustrator, PostScript and PDF. During his career, Forrest has been engaged worldwide as a researcher and teacher, among others at MIT and Xerox PARC and a consultant for Xerox, DEC, Adobe Systems, Apple, Microsoft, Lucas Film and Pixar. The talk will describe how computer graphics developed as a consequence of Cold War funding.
MEDIA SOUP is an open colloquium of the Institute for Media Theories at Humboldt University Berlin, hosted by Paul Feigelfeld.
