I know the organ it's amazing, but believe me, this song without Gary's voice and the mystic lyric it wouldn't be the masterpiece it is. Just listen in 1:58... Amazing, wish there was a piano and voice version. This is the kind of songs that works in all ways, it could be a polka and it would still be great.

@wychwood7 Exactly! Brooker and Reid! It was Matthew Fisher's organ backing that propelled this record to international fame. Granted the song and lyrics were great but it was Fisher's organ arrangement which pushed it out of the ordinary. This evidenced by Brooker's solo here which it is fine but is missing that extra oomph. Thank goodness Fisher can now share royalties and cowriting credit after 43 years

Better late than never, but what struck me was the attitude of Gary Brooker and his team who acted more like East End thugs than the honorable 'Commander of the British Empire' he plays.Matt comes across as a very humble guy and in the end that will be remembered along with his inspired brilliant musicianship.
