Amtrak and Shore Line East at Old Saybrook - March 14, 2009

Old Saybrook, Connecticut

A pleasant couple of hours at the station in Old Saybrook on a sunny Saturday.
Trains featured are:

1. Amtrak 99 southbound Northeast Regional - Boston, MA to Newport News, VA HHP-8 654
2. Shore Line East 3629 Beginning its trip back to New Haven making all stops. A thinly disguised P40DC 833
3. Amtrak 160 Northbound Northeast Regional - Washington, DC to Boston, MA HHP-8 655
4. Amtrak 161 Southbound Northeast Regional - Boston, MA to Washington, DC AEM-7 947
*The train stops shortly after departing. I was on the other side of the platform and couldn't see what was going on, but from what I gathered I think someone got on the train by mistake and wanted off.

5. Amtrak 162 Northbound Northeast Regional - Washington, DC to Boston, MA AEM-7's 927 & 925
6. Shore Line East 3618 P40DC 833 and its consist returns from New Haven, pulling in on track 3.
7. Shore Line East 3637 The above train begins its journey back west, making its way from track 3 all the way over to track 2, leaving room on track 1 for...
8. Amtrak 2253 Southbound Acela Express - Boston, MA to Washington, DC Power cars 2009 & 2020

Yea, I was surprised by that. I'm also impressed with how quickly Amtrak has gotten the "Northeast Regional" logos on the cafe cars.

I wonder what plans there are (if any) for Shore Line East's old Constitution Liners. I think Amtrak should ship them back to Bear, Delaware or Beech Grove, Indiana and turn them into extra Amfleet coaches.

Ya Acela 2253 was deadheading down to wilmington shops to get a new pantagraph cause in attleboro it hit bad wires and the back pantograph flipped upside down
