Why do Creationists do this? I can answer in three words: The Big Lie. The more they push the lie that there are no transitional fossils or no validity to the theory of evolution, the more they can convince fatuous individuals that they're right and the scientists are wrong ... and therewith at least attempt to hang onto power and influence.
