I also have another question. I sorta have an idea about what the differents are in the mallet percussions, but I would rather hear it from expert like yourself. I have told people in the past what the differeneces are, but know one has percisely told me, If you know what I mean.

I play the mallets to. I just graduated, and is heading to ICC in mississippi to play in the band down there. I have been trying to teach myself how to play the mallets with 4. I have two problem. One, like you say in this video with the younger one swinging it up and down, I have mallet go down at the same time. Two, I can adjust the second mallet in my hand to hit the right note. You got any tips.

Answer to question: To me, techniques are like the ingredients and spices in a chef's kitchen. You'll never really need all of the ingredients at once, and some obscure spices might sit in a cabinet for months without being touched, but the more ingredients you have, the more options are available to you. Same concept applies to percussion technique.

I like food analogies :D
