"I promise you on Gods grave that a whole lot more people would have died had we gone in the old fashioned way." You can't see the future. You have no idea what would have happened. Nobody knows what would have happened had those bombs not been dropped. You have a cute theory, but it is far from fact. It is a creation you have come up with in your brain. How about the cold war? If bombs had been dropped you would probably be saying the same thing about that, how many more men would have died.
Your right, I can't see the future, but I can see the past just fine. . . . Your admitting I have a brain!? Had bombs been dropped during the cold war? Let me "speculate" we wouldn't be here having this lovely internet chat. =)
yes because at least with conventional bombs there would be no radiation. no deformities for generations to come. atom bombs are not really dangerous do to their explosive power. we cause more deaths in japan with conventional air raids then we did with the nukes. it is the poison called radiation that is released into the air that makes the atom bomb so horrid. the death rate and the property damage in the initial drop really was not that bad. with current nukes it is a different story...
I agree, the reason they did what they did was because it would have taken to long and we would have lost to many men. I guess the real moral of the story is not to go to war in the first place. They haven't been used since for obvious reasons. I'm not going to condemn my grandparents though, or that generation.
An intelligent man once said something like this, "We know the difference between right and wrong. We know deep down in our heart. Sometimes we do things that are wrong, and we know they are, but we rationalize in our head. Giving ourselves as many different reasons needed to feel better about our decision." You are rationalizing it. You can give all the different reasons you want... but it doesn't make it right.
