Dear my Animals Friends!

Thousand Healthy animals dying in New Zealand SPCA Shelters..
I am writing to you to raise a matter which greatly concerns me, and which should also, I believe, concern the National Council of the RNZSPCA and its Branches and member bodies.
This issue is more than just a clash between philosophies. It is reflective of a bigger problem with the way SPCA society Bay Of Islands views companion animals.

"Many animals are abandoned not because they have behavior problems, but simply because they have become inconvenient...
Basically, dogs are abandoned or surrendered to shelters because they misbehave. Dogs misbehave (act like dogs), simply because no one taught them how to behave appropriately when living with people,, Some get a second chance, some dont.
Locked up in that cage, day in and day out, without adequate exercise, eating whatever greasy store brand food is available that day, with other dogs barking incessantly, limited human contact, living in it's own excrement, the list goes on and on.
Could these dogs be rehabilitated if adopted?
More than likely. so is it fair to the dog to allow it to slowly go mad, wasting away in a cage for weeks, months? Jumping up the wall, pacing, running in circles. These are all symptoms that a dog has reached the end of its tolerance for the situation.
A rescue dog from the SPCA Shelter, We're grateful that he can be a part of our lives, and that he'll spend his final days safe, happy and well-fed."
What could be kinder and more caring than offering a loving home to a sweet senior dog so that they can live their golden years in happiness, having a home of their own and being loved and cared for.

*...Saving just one pet won't change the world ...but, surely, the world will change for that one pet...*

My advice to anyone seeking to adopt a Dog from any Shelter, is to choose only ones whos Policy is to MORE INFO:SPCA AUCHLAND ,,,spay and neuter,,, its animals prior to adoption, not from the ,,SPCA Bay of Islands,,

A good place to Adopt a Pet: The SPCA Whangarei and other Rescue Shelter, who doing a great job. Check out there Website. http://www.whangareispca.co.nz/index.php

  • dogs are best companions for many, and keep us healthy, taking care of them helps us.

We need connection, and many people can connect with a dog, seniors, shy, those

    with social inhibitions, and fears.

  • Poor dogs :'( PEOPLE WHO HAD THESE DOGS ONCE SHOULD NOT HAVE ABANDONED THEM!

  • Very touching....:)

  • @lovesfreedomtoo A dog's love is a piece of heaven, through their unconditional love, we become better human beings!! I hope one day, we will all reunite with our loyal dogs in heaven!!

Try to "celebrate" the time you both shared, and live your best life because that's how Milo would have wanted for you!!! He loved you so much!! Even in his last few minutes of life, he was showing & giving you love!! Remember that sweet face that kissed you! He is in heaven now and no more suffering!!

  • @lovesfreedomtoo I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSE! For something this tragic and also so sudden, I totally understand how much Milo's passing is breaking your heart. I too had lost my heart dog to cancer last year, and i broke down and cried when I realized I had to put him down. Even in his last few hours of life, instead of yelping in pain, he tried to comfort me by putting his paw on top of my hand while I was laying next to him crying... continued....

  • please everyone, love your furry babies, they return so much more love than we could ever give them. I miss Sid & Milo so much & in awhile I will go & rescue another baby or 2 or 3. I hope to rescue older ones since they are the hardest to find forever homes for.

  • @luvmj4ever904 Ok, continued, this past Tuesday, March 22, 2011, my sweet Milo came back inside from his bathroom break, got some water, gave us some love & then I heard him yelp & a hard thump. I turned & he was laying there, I tried so hard to revive him, I did CPR but he had a massive heart attack. Tuesday was my birthday but I did not celebrate, I have cried for almost a solid month now. I had no idea that I would lose him too. Now my Bear is here & missing them with us.

  • @luvmj4ever904 Thank you so much. These past weeks have been so hard on me. A week after I wrote this, my beloved Sid, the dog that climbed into my car & heart had bloodclots go to his lungs. I couldn't save him & my heart is broken...to be continued...

  • @lovesfreedomtoo thank you so much for rescuing them!!!! I rescued all my dogs, and some are even abused at the "rescue center" that is supposed to help them!!!! God Bless you and your doggies family!!!
