I thought all 850 Volvo's had a 2.4 size motor in them.

No, the non turbo 850 is a 2.5 and the turbo a 2.3. There is also a 2.0 turbo and a 2.0 NA. The later volvo models are 2.4 engine's.

@ipeters No the non turbo is a 2.4 (I just read it off the top of my engine) "2.4L 20V" and the turbo is a 2.3.

This is a non turbo 2.4 20V I-5 with Feritta cat back exhaust and catalytic converter delete. I believe it's 2.5 diameter pipe but may be 3in

The exhaust burble and popping happens when backing off the throttle, most cars will do the same once you do a cat and muffler delete.

I love Volvo I-5 its the closest exhaust note you can get to a V10
