Official Roman Catholic teaching states that we do not pray to Mary Saints or idols.

I presume the Children were using the statue as a focal point.

@almostinsane99 And those commandments are as worthless nowadays as the "don't eat pigs" command. A command that would make sense if you lived in ancient ages where pigs had parasites in them, but not after hard-boiling managed to eliminate them and made pigs clean to eat.

@almostinsane99 But the Jews were commanded to do so, and also, they didn't worship the cherubim. Praying is a form of worship, the cherubim weren't prayed to, unlike catholic "saints", which are prayed to, and therefore worshiped.
