  • @H2DAMOFOP Technically no... but its not too dangerous either. Having your neck in that sort of over-extended position can result in chronic cervical vertebrae issues, but only if it's something you do often over a long period of time.

    Some people struggle to maintain a straight back during certain hip extension exercises and having their head up can help them exaggerate the "arched back" position.

    All that said, this isn't a critical issue... just something to consider.

  • Is the neck in the correct position?

  • the wide grip help to increase the ROM. if done on a platform it will increase it even more.

  • It certainley cab be a tool to get you strong in the snatch. It's also a great lift to really hammer the posterior chain and increase athleticsm as leverage is against you regarding the grip width. It's also employed in a full deadlift style AND also standing on a low box which increases the stress upon the muscles even more as you have to flex at the hip more, the same result can be achieved by using smaller diameter weight plates.
