So in essence, the term 'Cuban Coffee' has more of a historic connotation than anything, as in today's world you can get espresso anywhere and add all the sugar you want to it, although most Americans will probably prefer Splenda. lol

Also, long before there was Starbucks.etc. most Americans (key word is 'most') were simply drinking black coffee (drip.) Maybe they'd add some creamer, but it certainly wasn't espresso. This is where we get the term "Americano" from in relation to 'watered down espresso.'

This is not typical Cuban Espresso. This is 'Cafe Con Leche" simply put: Coffee with Milk. The reason why Cuban espresso is called Cuban Coffee (or as we Cubans simply say: cafecito) is because long before anyone else was making coffee this way, we were doing it. This is because Cuba traditionally has always been a sugar harvesting island. At one time, most sugar in the US was imported from Cuba before the embargo.

what is cuban about it? its italian espresso with milk dude! and adding sugar surely doesnt make it cuban? well who cares. seems like sugar is an exotic spice in cuba or something?
