Completely different things. The fest is a great party in one park in the city, beer, great food, girls in Dirndls (hot), beer and it lasts for weeks. Queen's day is a day and a half during which the ENTIRE city (in fact the whole country) becomes a big party. Open concerts in different parts of the city, boat parades, the free market, etc. Munich is beautiful and no one should miss Oktoberfest, but for a day and a half of pure party, there is no comparison to Queen's day.

This video gives a true feeling for Koninginnedag (Queen's birthday celebration in April in the Netherlands). It is the most fun annual party I know of.

Desmond Dekker & The Aces - Israelites. That's the original. If you check out more info at the right, you could have seen it is a remix made by DJ Rick. Greetings from Amsterdam

Queens day is the best!!! Where in the world is the Royal family so connected to the Dutch people then in Holland on Queensday!!!! I just saw our future king putting on skates to ice skate on fake ice with his wife surrounded by children celebrating Queensday. Where in the world does that happen!! The whole country is Oranje right now. Everybody is happy and the Royal family is enjoying al the festivities. ( sorry for my bad English .
Bedankt! Thanks!

The background song is The Israelites, recorded by Apache Indian & Desmond Dekker.
Desmond Dekker died about a year after recording this version.
