Why 'Break the Mould'?

This DVD encourages housing providers to think about how they might respond to the needs of a rapidly ageing population. It sets out a number of approaches to providing the right options for people in later life in the current housing market and financial climate to ensure housing and services are not just what older people need, but are sustainable and flexible to growing and changing needs.

The Federation has interviewed housing association staff, stakeholders and most importantly tenants of some of the ground breaking housing and services which housing associations already operate throughout the UK. David Orr, chief executive of the National Housing Federation, will bring to life the housing options currently available to older people, and the potential business opportunities that an ageing population brings.

Breaking the Mould aims to help providers break the current mould of older people's housing and build on the innovation within the sector to create a new and exciting offer.
