@frankpaolino - Obesity is number 1 because many of those same children who are starving (and many who aren't) are eating crap when they can finally get some food. High fructose corn syrup, high fat meats, high in calories, high in sugar. So, while these fat kids are getting fatter, they're in a way starving themselves fat. We have to feed the children but we need to feed them high quality, nutritious food.

Not everyone who gets help from the gov't is lazy, my mother works literally everyday- with the mentally handicap, making barely above minimum wage- but she can't make ends meet. We don't like it, but we'd go without eating if she didn't get food stamps and even then, food is scarce. And the neighborhood thing, we live in a small town where the economy isn't great- I'm having a hard time finding work- but we try to help other when we can but not everyone shares that sentiment
