@qarohc You say you saw no actual proof. De'Souza used the very sources used by the accusers. Well, what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander: if the D'Souza's sources are not proof, then the Pope's accusers have no case.
You're right about one thing: there has been child abuse and some bishops did cover it up, and they deserve jail; but the Pope? He didn't do anything wrong here. If you think he did, NAME IT. Saying there were abuse cases, won't cut it. The Pope did nothing wrong.
Are you implying that the church and the pope did everything they could to stop the abuse?
If i was in charge of a lemonade stand with a history of this abuse i would be in jail for covering it up. These people only get away with it because of the religious aspect of it and you and your children are the potential victims.
@qarohc - I notice you don't dispute the facts De Souza presents; you just think he was mean to discredit the Pope's detractors. Well, if he's right that the Pope never stopped the trial of the abusive priest, then where was his alleged "cover up"? Where did the pope go wrong? You say he enabled abusers; be specific about what he did to enable them.
De Souza is a renowned Catholic author. Do not make the mistake, however, of rejecting his explanation, just because of you don't like the source.
Fr. Raymond J. de Souza is a columnist for the National Post newspaper and the parish priest of Sacred Heart of Mary Parish (in other words a church employee)
His article is mostly just and ad hominem attack on the people providing proof.
If you think you are doing the church any favors by ignoring the facts you are wrong, there is a serious problem with the raping of young children entrusted to the church and if this wasn't bad enough the people in charge cover it up.
@qarohc There was no talk of the scandal. There are, however, some good news articles which show definitively that the pope did nothing wrong in these matters.
E.g. The pope did not prevent the trial of the priest Fr. Murphy, who was guilty of child abuse. corner [dot] nationalreview [dot] com/post/?q=ZDkxYmUzMTQ1YWUyMzRkMzg4Y2RiN2UyOWIzNDVkNDM=
Did you see any effects from the strong criticism being brought about by the child molestation charges that have been recently been brought to public attention and the fact that the pope knew about them and decided to hide them?
Ive been reading European news sources for the last few weeks and that seems to be dominating the headlines.
Was there any talk about the pope stepping down? Or a persecution of the enablers? Although the pope himself may fall under that.

This is incredible timing.
