Götheborg at quay in Helsinki
Photos of the tall ship Götheborg during a visit in Helsinki in June 2008.
Götheborg is a replica built around the original core of an old Swedish wooden merchant vessel (ostindiefarare, East Indiaman) that mysteriously sunk outside the harbour of Gothenburg in 1745 after yet another voyage to Asia.
She belonged to the fleet of the Swedish "East India Company", established in 1731, a company that existed for 82 years.
The ship was relaunched in 2005 - the work included a lot of maritime archeological research - and has since then revisited China - her old mercantile domains.
Götheborg measures 58,5 metres and is sailed by a crew of 80 persons.
