Talking about myself....
sorry i have couple of mistakes so please bear with it....
I don't just sign, i also can speak....
My sign is a mix with signed exact english and american sign language but i still not know lots of asl....

for those who couldn't understand what i was saying in sign language....
Hello, My name is Stephanie Denis. I am 21 1/2 years old, and I live in Ottawa, Ontario. I was born deaf due to a birth defect. I had cochlear implant surgery in July of 1994. I was 5 1/2 years old. I have had a C.I. for 16 years. I was raised in Edmonton, Alberta. I lived there for 14 years. I never went to a deaf school. I went to a public school and I didn't make any friends with anyone there until I was in grade 4 in a Catholic school. I wasn't in any school clubs or (the first mistake) sports, except when I was in grade 8. I joined the senior girl soccer team as the manager. I enjoyed being the manager (the second mistake, sorry) for the girls soccer team because I got to watch all the soccer games and the City Champion Final game at which we won the silver. I also got to help the girls to get ready for the game and warm up (i know i said and signed 'for' thats was the third and last mistake) the girls before doing any practice games. I've enjoyed art and drawing since I started junior high until I ended my art classes at the end of my high school when I graduated. But my passion for art never ended. I knew sign language, but not asl, since I was very little, at least 2 years old. I will tell you more about myself some other time. See you later!

  • @teoleo100 no i do not have a malformation of the cochlea. I have sensorineural hearing loss which means that my auditory nerve system don't function correctly. Thanks, when i wear my ci i can speak very well but when i dont wear my ci i dont speak well, because i sound different without my ci. Hope your son does well with the surgery. Just a question what does BB stand for?

  • wow you look sooooo young

  • Good story. I dont' know ASL, I know only my Australian signs, that's all. Plus speak and hear through my hearing aids, that's ab ou tit. I'm a bookworm, books are my forte. No worries, good luck with your progress in future.

  • Ya go oilers go. Edmonton Alberta rocks.

  • I wish you all the best for your future. Keep on sketching throughout your life. No matter what you end up doing as a career. I enjoyed listening to your story & I look forward to hearing more as you post your story.
