@gwar10ck You dont really have long enough to charge your phone while paying but its a pretty good idea! Maybe if coffee shops etc had charging stations then you could keep the battery up while shopping etc.

@89mattyUK easiest to solve battery problem would be chargers near every pay poin, in case your phone is dead.

Bill Gates predicted this in his "road ahead video" circa 1995 ... his video shows a device he called a digital wallet that we would be using by 2010. This was a mind blowing concept in 1995.. how close he was.

I think I'll stick to cash & plastic cards, thank you... I would feel like a total douche, whipping my iphone out to pay for every single thing, snap QR codes, etc.
Notice how virtually everything being paid for in this video is an impulsive purchase!

You're screwed if you lose your phone BUT you are screwed NOW if you lose your wallet/card so not much difference. The main worry would be servers going down and also the life of smartphone batteries now is abysmal.
