Muhammad Ali was the world heavyweight champion with an appeal that went beyond sport.
The boxing star's dramatic life always grabbed media attention. The public has been witness to a life filled with drama, controversy and thrills including: his court battle to avoid jail for refusing to fight in Vietnam, his three world heavyweight championship wins, his conversion to Islam and his humanitarian work.
Now, he is a national icon celebrating his 70th birthday.
Al Jazeera's John Terrett reports from Ali's hometown of Louisville, Kentucky.

@26311971 Your right about the Rocky.M but Rocky decided to go back to fighting and get a 50 winstreak after he said he retired.That was the day he took a plane to get to his hometown and celebrate his b-day.So he didnt quit fighting really.He was going for a 50 streak.

@fashionvsmind Boxing is not the cause to this, He has a disease called Parkinsons. This disease has happened to people who ain't even been hit in the head. Its not brain damage as his mind is still strong it only effects his nervous system.

People that change the world for the benifit of everyone else is the greatest, not
a boxer who now has a mental problem basically cause by himself, sure maybe people didn't know that get knocked in the head on a regular basis would lead to such a problem, but it was a good bet that it would. So people get your priorities straight, if you ask me he was better known for shooting his mouth, never the less he's still famous. .
