I have never found a live performance of this beautiful song if someone has something plese post is this is the first song I ever heard from The Cars and I fell in love with Ben's voice and since that day until now I'm looking for a video to see Ben sing this song. Thanks
@JesusFreakJene No don't touch a thing on this song! Actually, you might be right - but there is the need to cut in with something there to keep it interesting. The keyboard sound never bothered me.
Funny how some musicians complain about The Cars - boring chord progressions, etc. I think that once they tightened up, went minimal and wrote hooks - which is what you must do, you know, to get hooks - it made the Rock and Roll MASTERPIECES we have now, known as The Cars eponymous and Candy-O.
Love this song! You know, if The Cars would re-mix this without the synth keyboards, this song would be all Rock and Roll.
The keyboards, starting at 0:49 and at 1:38, sound like the Disneyland Electric Parade Music. This song would sound so much better without that in the song.
Just my 2 cents about it....LOL "The Cars Rock"!
( I wonder if The Cars first created that sound or if Disney did?)
joed3433 There was a live perfornance of this. I distinctly remember seeing it on the Midnight Special the same night they performed Lets's Go.( Fall 1979 ) I had loved the song and was delighted that they were performing it .

A CARS song without keyboards would be like a SNICKERS bar without peanuts.

Just a different vocal take as opposed to a demo. Interesting.
