STOP THAT HAMMERING

@boostimalaka1 not the whole story, Texas LEO's did drop the 45 acp in favor of the 38 super back in the late 20's and 30's because of the 45 acp lack of penetration of car bodies of the time(45 acp has no problem penetrating car bodies of today). as for penetration of the human body, the 45 acp still outshines even newer cartridges like 40 S&W and 357 sig as a 1 shot man-stopper.

Something else to consider, 10mm with a nice warm 200gr load is as soft shooting as a 200gr out of a 45acp, but has a little better performance overall. 45acp is better for light clothing/cover, and 10mm is better for heavy clothing/heavier cover.
40S&W hurts your hand, and delivers the same performance as a 9mm that shoots 10x more comfortably.
357sig is a nice conversion away from the 40S&W after you get tired of the muzzle flip and shock to your wrists.

@LeaveItToBeaner in no means am i trying to say IN THE LEST BIT the .45 acp is a god round,but is deff got some 1 up's over some round :)
-
@18bravoak another reason why sof units also love the .45acp is because it can be suppressed without having to use a lighter load. even at +p its still sub sonic so theres no loud cracking sound coming out of the muzzle

@HerbWalker used within reasonable range the .45 acp does not lack any stopping power nor penetration..but does lack the fps of most other smaller rounds...with modern day loads i would and do carry the .45 acp every single day ...day in and day out not saying i dont have other cal handguns just perfer and beileve in the .45

that sounds like lenny magill

@jonestim491 40sw is the most popular cop cartridge because there's women joining police depts everywhere. The women escaped from the kitchen and now dept's wont issue 45's anymore.
bluecollar: The disagreement between military members and police over the .45 probably has something to do with the fact that military members primarily rely on rifles and carry the .45 merely as a backup sidearm. Not many military members have needed to pull out the sidarm in combat., which means they are basically used in target practice. Cops on the other hand rely on their pistols day to day and have encountered real life usage. Just a thought.

@EliteAmericans Whatever dude.
.40S&W is way more uncomfortable to shoot than .45 Auto. The .45 tends to have more of a rearward push and "slow" rise of the muzzle, whereas .40S&W has a sharp snappy recoil.
When it comes down to it and modern JHP ammo is use, there is NO difference in terminal performance between 9mm, .40, and .45.
