This is the first time we demagnetized our Space Echo. Remember to remove the tape and clean everything out while the tape is out of the machine. I left the tape in another room when doing this procedure. Also don't do this around your credit cards because they will be ruined. Plug in the demagnetizing device 3 feet away from the tape heads. Be sure the power is off on the unit to be demagnetized. Then move in slowly towards the heads and just very slowly and smoothly move across the heads as close as you can get to the surface. Then pull away very slowly as well when you are done. This should be performed regularly with the tape echo unit. The procedure in the video was successful and we put the tape back in the machine and used it on our record entitled "BLOWN SPEAKERS TAKEOVER".

  • Don't be jerky... and don't go back and forth. One long pass from far away to far away is best.

  • We love tape head maintenance.

  • I think you are overdoing it. My demagnitizer says to hold on heads for one second each.

  • Hi there, where did you buy that demagnetizer and approximately how much did it cost? Thanks in advance for the information, thanks a lot, Gonzalo

  • you need to start a foot away, go to each head and pull away slowly.

  • hey, where did you get the demagnitiser?

    cheers
