This is probably from 1968. Jymie Merritt began using the Ampeg Baby Bass around then, and used it on an album with Roach called "Members, Don't Get Weary".

Contrary to the Jazz orthodoxy...I view Roy Haynes in his musical prime a superior drummer to Roach.
I caught Roach live circa '85 featuring Odean Pope. I was less than inspired with Roach's playing.

@bookmaster89 Hey man it was just an observation. Don’t take it personal haha.

how the fuck is that creeping? he's just looking at her. i'm so sick of that word being used to describe everything nowadays, along with "sketch" and "stalker"

Max's brush technique is simply unmatched. One of the best jazz greats ever

Terrific band... except for Odean Pope. He is hysterically sharp and plays like a high school kid. Sorry... he does. Cowell is amazing.

I think you've got the line up a little confused. That is Stanley Cowell on piano for sure. Which means that the date would most likely be late 60's as Cowell played in Roaches band from 1967 to 1970. Yay for Max Roach!
