DEAD CENTER FRONT ROW! Neil rips into a JAZZY big-band set for the final part of his drum solo at the Hollywood Bowl! Totally outta hand -- Neil THE MASTER! It was a nice tip of the hat to the Hollywood Crowd. RUSH - Snakes and Arrows Tour '07 at the Hollywood Bowl. July 23, 2007.

  • Besides the amazing musicianship Neil displays here... what's tripy to me is how it looks like he's on the set of some old "big band era" Hollywood film where the moving background makes him look like he's floating or moving through time. Just adds another layer to the whole thing for me. ; )

  • Drum solos are OUT in general, but Niel Peart is probably the ONLY guy that has the prestige and merit to still pull them off in a live concert! A Rush concert without a Peart solo would be like a Bush speech without mispronounced words! No fun!

  • So true! LOL I don't even think about wanting to see a drum solo at a concert anymore. What a breath of fresh air it is to watch a drum solo in an over produced in the studio music world. And a true testament to how great a musician Neil is to watch him play solo! RUSH truly knows how to rock LIVE!

  • Awesome footage, man. you must have been like front row. have any other stuff from this concert? I was there (pretty far back compared to you, though). It was awesome.

  • Our seats were front row, dead center! There was just a hand/arm now and then from person to the right and left of us rockin' out. No other obstructions. Hit the "playlist" tab while this is up on screen and there are two other videos uploaded from the show. It was unexpected but exciting to see how good the quality came out on these. Wish now I attempted to make more. None the less...Enjoy!

  • If you watch the entire drum solo, you'll find it is indeed Neil's interpretation of the 'history of drumming'.

  • He adds the big band ending as a tribute to his hero.... Buddy ;)

  • Me and My Brother bow humbly to the professor, up in the lawn at Verizon Ampitheatre Irvine. Thanks for posting 1 & 2. Alot of people say This guys better, or that guy, and it seems THESE drummers admire each other, and Pearts name seems to come up from new drummers as well. Variety is the spice of life. -MAVIII(progulus. c o m)

  • This was the best part of it. This 50's piece is sweet !

    By the way, nice seat.

  • sick quality!
