Description:
It all started when five musicians and a French teacher met randomly on the outskirt's of the high school's upper grass quad during another band's performance. Not quite understanding the reason why they were holding a seemingly "random" meeting with one another, their soon-to-be manager proposed a reason:

They were a rock band. Why else would they be with one another in such a way?

Talking to one another, they started asking questions on who played what instrument. Shin responds, "I play bass" and soon afterward, Saul, Jacob, Alex, and Rahul begin to speak of their capabilities. Drums, vocals, guitars... it was slowly coming together.

Eventually, it was decided that a practice session be held soon to prepare for the school's upcoming Battle of the Bands.

And so it began.

The band met once a week (they met more often as their deadline approached). With a drummer who's never touched a drum set before joining the band, a vocalist who never spoke French in his life, and a rhythm guitarist who's never played guitar, they established the French rock band, Excuse My French.

Practicing with what equipment they had (a drum set with only a bass drum, snare, high hat, and whatever that weird deep-sounding drum is called) they began perfecting their sound and working towards a band unlike any other band.

They garb themselves in an all-black attire (except for Alex Marzona, for his guitar god skills permitted him to wear whatever he wished [or wear nothing at all]) and with a French beret. The lead singer is granted the blessings of France by wearing the French flag as his cape.

And then, during their debut performance at battle of the bands, another one was added to their number: Taylor Harb.

She showed much enthusiasm during their performance and had begged for a group photo beforehand. The mighty leader Jacob deemed that she was worthy of an opportunity to prove herself by allowing her to sing the bridge of the song before re-entering the energetic chorus.

Her stunning vocals impressed the mighty ones, and she was deemed worthy of finishing the rest of the song with the band. Now, she is one of them and proudly garbs herself in the same manner of the others in the number.

Where the band is taken to next... only time will tell.

  • Where are they from? The song isn't easy to sing, in particular if French isn't his native language so, it's not that bad.

  • @Leex18th we're all from california =)

  • you know, even though you guys did a good job, i think it would have been stupid if a band that did a cover of another bands song would have won. Thats why i was surprised that J-Building and Girls at War didn't even place. In my opinion, covers are for fun, and should not even be considered as possible winners. If that was the case then i think Kruisin 4 a Bruisin should have won.

  • he's a fucking fanboy

  • @Iroil Oh ok, nice :]

  • rahul propelled them into 4th, with his hot body.

  • HAHAHA you guys are funny.

  • they where good. all I am saying is that bands playing songs that are not their own should not be considered for winning, as they are not a real band, because REAL bands make their own songs.

  • uhm, you want me to put together a band that covers french songs and dresses up like french stereotypes? why? what would that prove?

And I know they wouldnt be playing together otherwise because 1) they didnt play together before(fair enough) and 2) they didnt play together after(which proves they just did it for botb, which is fine, most cover bands do that)

I am not sure what exactly your point is. Give them the benefit of the doubt cuz they where put together in a few weeks?

  • alright i wanna see it happen this year . haha . you try to put together a band that has the same traits as this one . i wanna see how hard it is .

how would you know that they wouldnt be playing together otherwise ? and besides all the bands that performed played songs they happen to be comfortable with . Excuse My French! 's song happened to me a cover . so dont give me that .

  • its not that hard when you are covering someone else's song

what I am saying is that cover bands shouldnt even be considered for winning, because they are not a real band, they just got together to play for fun, they wouldnt be playing together otherwise.
