Cunard Queen Elizabeth maiden voyage departure from Southampton 12 Oct 2010 at 5 pm on a sunny afternoon with onlookers everywhere, on land and sea.
This possibly marks the end of an era spanning approximate ten years of new cruise ships being named and taking their maiden trips from Southampton given no new cruise ships are currently being built / planned at this time.
Video was shot with our Panasonic GH1 on a Manfrotto tripod. Un-edited video has been sped up by 10x to make viewing a bit more interesting.

  • it's bloody ugly isn't it, it's like a block of 1960's flats compared to the elegance of the QE2

  • @WalneyCol I agree. Both the new Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria are ugly ships. Truly not looking like true Cunarders.

  • Yep, she is designed to max out revenues with aft premium staterooms, not to mention port and starboard balcony staterooms. All of the cruise ships are being built this way today.

  • looks just like any other modern cruise ship,at least of all cunards current ships the qm2 looks a bit like a liner, even if does not reflect the elegance of the qe2
