Rare interview with the ABBA members Frida,Benny and Björn.Around 1983.Translation :
Thomas Gottschalk:So , there never was a real end of ABBA , is that right ?
Björn: Yes , that's just a break ,but we don't know ,how long this break will take .
T.Gottschalk:Frida ,do you hope , that ABBA will soon exist again , or do you say "Alone I'm happy", successful are you of course .
Frida:I am very happy alone and somehow I'm successful, but of course , I would be happy to work with ABBA again , when everyone's in the mood to.
T.Gottschalk:The ABBA fans can be happy , yes!
How is it for you (Benny,Björn) , when you notice that the people want ABBA again , when they want new LP's?Do you say "ok, the people want ABBA again , let's make something", aren't you allowed to get affected to the audience ?
Benny: I think it's very important to do what you want to do , that's more important than anything else !If you do that what the others want you to , it's always very difficult.Basically we want to have fun with our work !
Björn:But naturally it's wonderful to hear that they still like us , thank you very much !(I didn't understand ,what the translator said , it didn't have any context, but I guess this is , what he wanted to say).
T.Gottschalk:Naturally , many fans still have your LP's Of course there wasn't a lack of ideas , you just wanted to take a break.Frida , the future .If you are a singer , ähm now ABBA sold so many records , 200 million´, do you want to get as successful as you got with ABBA , is there any chance to get as successful?Or do you say "ok I sell a lot less records than earlier , but I sell them alone ?
Frida:Just a minute hahahaha
T.Gottschalk:We also want to apologise , that we just have a man to translate Frida , but he's doing a great job .
Frida:I could never be as successful as ABBA , there isn't any chance and I don't even try to get as successful , but I want to do my job as good as I can and if I sell as many records as ABBA , that's not important for me , I don't care , I just want to have fun .
T.Gottschalk :I recently saw you , when you cheered the two boys in London at the premiere of their musical "Chess".I was glad that she was so thrilled of the result and it was really great !
Frida : Yes, I really ,ähm it was a very emotional evening for me.It's a great musical , I love it and they really applied a lot of effort and talent to create it and it was fantastic !
