Hey doc boner, The J Gyles Band did a much better love-lost song called "LOVE STINKS". Much better than this morbid tune. Might want to try THAT one on your ol Coon organ. BTW, that organ sounds like one of dem old reed pump organs as far as I can tell.
We have an old English folksong, possibly dating from the 16th Century, of the same name but a very different tune, which I learned when at school in the 1950's. I would assume that perhaps it crossed to the U.S. with the early settlers and has been locally modified! I will see if I can find words and score and email to you for comparison.
