Franz Liszt (1811-1886)

"Oh! quand je dors", G 282 (Victor Hugo, 1802-1885)

Thomas Hampson, baritone.
Geoffrey Parsons, piano.
1993.

  • thats amazing ! really

  • A delight! Such tenderness.

  • the first time ive heard a man sing this most beautiful song ...wow its really really beautiful and now my favourite version ...best interpretation...i will learn alot from it!thank you!

  • Mr. Hampson, a superb Liszt interpreter, just sang the world premiere of a cycle of 5 songs in February 2011, inspired by Liszt's Petrarch Sonnets. The American Liszt Society, honoring the Liszt Bicentennial, commissioned William Bolcom to write a cycle using texts of 5 Petrarch Sonnets. The result, "Laura Sonnets," was superbly premiered by Mr. Hampson and pianist Craig Rutenberg at the 2011 American Liszt Society Festival at the University of Georgia, Athens. Let us hope for a CD of it soon!

  • Truly something special. Again, an amazing collaboration and fusion of the proper artists with the perfect song for their talents. Bravo . One of Tom's teachers, Martial Singher would probably refer to him now as a "Beautiful Monster." Mere mortals don't ever get close to this sort of perfection.

  • magnificiant!!!

  • This is perfection. I've never heard a more moving performance of this song.

  • just beautiful...*****
