the inverter is american which it converts to 115v im fitted this socket because items like laptops and fans dont need that much energy but you are right the plug is 240v

You could get a travel power converter (takes us power and converts it to 240v uk). When ever my brother goes to Europe, he brings his 240v uk to 120v us power converter to plug in his rechargeable batteries, camera etc...... Also, is that a 5 amp hour sla battery? looks just like one of my spare batteries. it's 0ver 7 years old and still holds a charge!
