Former members of Utopia, Todd Rundgren, Kasim Sulton, and Roger Powell reunite, along with drummer Prairie Prince for A Wizard, A True Star Live at Park West in Chicago.
Slipper....you need to shoot your ego in the face...point blank. There's nothing wrong with Todd wanting to go back and revisit a time when real music was appreciated, of which you obviously do not. Besides he's giving the fans what they want as with most of his recent tours (e.g. AWATS, Healing, etc). Is it perfect? No. But i commend them all. Let's see what you're doing when your 61. i can bet you won't be rocking nearly as hard as Todd has and any point in his career. OK you're done.
And in closing: Prairie has some decent fills in the holes, but he basically gaffing his way through the groove, which is a paradiddle based unison hand foot thing. I can't hear Kasim on the laptop, so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt. I had a band in HS in 1979 which played a more solid version of "The Ikon" than this horrorshow. Basically pissing on the wonderful memory of a killer band and song here. Please retire. OK. I'm done.
This is dreadful. These guys are to old to play this kind of precision Utopia material. If Todd's gonna keep beating this dead horse he should hang up the cleats. Powell is awful, tons of meandering BS and clangorous bends. Todd is unable to get through so much as single stanza of the broken descent riff and is forgetting the arrangement all over the place.
