100% of the power on earth comes from the sun.
The new Apple HQ is totally powered by Solar cells.
It has a 1,000 lithium batteries in the basement.
It is off the grid, stand alone, self sustaining.
It is not connected to PG&E.
What is the future of solar?
Compare the reason American's make solar cells
to the REASON the Chinese make solar?
The Chinese print solar cells, because they see it as a
form of power. They have a bold vision of leading the world
in solar cell production.
They have been saying that for 10 years.
Now they are close to achieving that goal.
Chinese business people make solar cells to capture energy.
American business men make solar cells to make money.
This totally different REASON for making solar
leads to differnt outcomes.
I have embraced the solar industry.
What is there not to like about free, clean energy.
More people need to understand that all power on earth comes from the sun.
Oil is just stored solar power.
Once people wrap their brain around this idea, they will understand that we can & must power all our needs 100% from the sun.
Enough sun falls on the city of Cupertino in one day to every home & business there for one year.
If we can just install enough batteries to collect the energy
from the solar cells.
I love the way Steve Jobs looked at design problems.
When he was told "You can't build an all glass staircase, he keep asking new people until he found someone who said, "It can be done."
If Steve wanted something done he would keep asking the right questions, until he found someone who would work with him to do it. Too bad Steve did not take the time to focus on using Selenium to prevent cancer.
Here is what is wrong with the American view of solar.
"Solar stocks took a serious beating in 2011, losing about 75% of their value. These stocks can't all be heading for bankruptcy.
It is true that their rate of growth has slowed with the recent European debt and Decession fears.
Also, the prices of solar panels have plunged, reducing the solar companies' profit margins."
That would be like reporting, when Henry Ford mass produced cars,
resulting in Ford selling far more cars than any other maker, until the other could re-tool up to mass production,
that "car stocks took a serious beating..."
Yes, Ford made cars cheaper & sold more, so Ford dominated the car market.
Just like China Inc. now makes more solar cells & so dominates the solar industry.
Just because I can run faster than you can doesn't mean I should be barred from the race.
It means you should go back to doing something you can do better.
China is trying to help the world capture more solar.
American should learn to build better batteries, to store the energy
China can capture. Trade barriers won't help.
