x-posted to my deviantart with crappier audio: http://fav.me/d38cub1

voice & lyrics: payroo
guitar: payroo's brother

That damn Alistair... just one conversation with him about his sister changes his whole course in the game! So my brother and I decided to sing a song about his hardening. And of course I then had to whip up a silly flash video to go along with it.

Tune shamelessly taken from Woody Guthrie's Hard, Ain't It Hard which can be found here: http://youtu.be/hNaKfyLf7FE

(Disclaimer: I'm more of a draw-er than a singer, so please be gentle)

BTW, sorry about the audio! I can't seem to export from flash without those annoying clicking sounds.

  • @sarahjla84 Ahh i see, i'll have to try this out then on my next playthrough.

  • @Darklight465 If you do this - you will notice some differences. Mainly that he is much more ready to be king and speaks up for himself more. If you are romancing him as an elf, mage, dwarf, etc and you make the right conversation choices you can convince a hardened Alistair to have a threesome with Isabella and to keep you on as his mistress after he becomes king. Neither of these things are possible if you don't harden him.

  • @Darklight465 After you visit Goldanna, he will talk to you about how crappy it went. You have to say to him "Everyone looks out for themselves, Alistair. You should know that." I think most people don't choose this answer because it sounds like a horrible thing to say to someone who just found out their only living relative is a complete shrew. To finish hardening him, you have to click on him again for a follow-up conversation and reaffirm what you have said - that he should be more selfish.

  • @sarahjla84 ahhh most ppl miss it, that would explain why im confused. Ive played through it twice.

  • @Darklight465 Sort of? It's a reference to changing his personality to affect the outcome of the game. Which you only have the ability to do during his personal quest. And which most people don't do during their first playthrough, because they likely don't know about it. Which is why this song is so amusing. Because many of us had this experience.

  • @sarahjla84 Sooo basically this is a reference to alistair's personal quest

  • @Darklight465 Oh also, if you haven't finished playing the game yet, I would recommend ignoring all of this and just playing through at least once. Unless you don't care about endgame spoilers.

  • @Darklight465 You can toughen him up during his personal quest by speaking to him a certain way. This affects the way he behaves later in the game at the Landsmeet, especially if you are romancing him with a non-human noble warden (ie. an elf, dwarf, or mage). I don't want to give away a ton of spoilers here, but if you Google this, there are instructions on how to "harden" him. FYI, you can also harden Leliana. Which makes her more fun.

  • what does it mean to harden alistair, im sorry if thats a nooby question i just dont understand

  • As a female I always end up with Alistair~

And as a male with Zevran 8D

    Love them~ ♥
