No one is debating the history of slavery (although ur vision of it is quite skewed). This question was seeking a response from candidates on what roles they believe race & classed played in the wake of Hurricane Katrina... so what are you talking about? Lastly, blacks did not have a group of people to exploit for 400 hundred years so we could be off building universities. Blacks where made to start from scratch, something no white person of Western European origin living in the world today can claim. if your father lived paycheck to paycheck, b/c his parents lived paycheck 2 paycheck b/c his parents did b/c their parents where slaves, of course your race would be driven towards higher crime rates. poverty is the sister of crime my nigga.

it is the years of institutionalized prejudice and racism that the black population in this country has had to contend with, and if i sound like a victim, it is because, well, quite frankly i am. After the legal end of slavery, the sharecropping system ensured blacks would remain in a state of effective slavery for decades after Reconsruction. during the great migration to cities, blacks where only permitted to buy property in areas of least economic oppertunity, and the effects are felt today

So get over the damned victim mentality. You are lucky to be in the US, benefiting off of the scientific and educational institutions, hospitals, and economy that the white man built. You are lucky to have a white people here who are so overly sympathetic to blacks, paying for blacks to eat, be housed, and lowering the bar to let underachievers into our top universities built by the white man! McGriff, you say that you have done a lot of research, but I say that you obviously need to keep studying. The fact is that black on white crime is over 30x more prevalent in America than white on black. Blacks raping whites is over 100x more common than whites raping blacks. Black people have far more opportunity in the US than they do in their own African countries. Racism against whites by blacks is widespread too. In Zimbabwe, (Africa), Mugabe stole white people's land in a racist coup.

Furthermore, we are in no place to judge who could have left, and who couldn't. Over 25% had NO access to private transportation. I've done tons of research on the subject & perhaps you guys should too before you continue with this.

Open your minds (or a book) and stop the judgment. You are accomplishing absolutely NOTHING by engaging in this petty rant of hurtful and hateful comments.

People in New Orleans suffered, all kinds of people. Respect that, respect each other, respect yourselves.
