For my 100th post, here are ten "Goofy Farmer" segment I combined into one long video. Mr. Farmer loved teaching numbers, adjectives and prepositions to kids and did it by being a total goofball. Very entertaining and funny. A man and woman narrate the clips. 1-10, quiet & noisy, fast & slow, near & far, taller & shorter, up & down, on top of, above & below, through and over & under. From the early 70's!

  • That's Arril alright, he gave me these clips on a VHS a few years back...I'd say he is in his late 50's now...maybe 60 at a pinch, and full of energy...

  • He has to be older then that. These were filmed in the very early 70's (probably 1971). That is 38 years ago. He looks older than 19 or 20 here.

  • about 60. nice guy.

  • If he isabout 60 now, he must have been in his early 20's in these films. I thought he looked to be in his early to mid 40's. BTW, how do you know for sure that this is Arrel Johnson? Did he mention in class that he was in small Sesame Street films almost 40 years ago?

  • This guy is a man called Arrel johnson, and he teaches animation at a university in England, which i'm very pleased to be a student of.

  • If that's true, he must be in his early to mid 80's by now.

  • he is 65, he is teaching me now, a great teacher

  • Great stuff! These always were good for a laugh back then, and still taught great lessons. Short, quick, hilarous,a nd right to the point, something lacking in today's SS. I have the "empty/full" one somewhere.

  • @stevenscottoddballz

Oo, I remember that! You have the right church, just the wrong pew, think his name was Alphabet Bates, could be wrong. He did do several letters for the kids. Often it was Susan who pointed them out.

Don't recall anything about his parachuting into the show, but may well be in the books.

Glad I'm not the only one who recalls this.

  • Does anyone remember "Alphabet Base"? He was a pilot who would draw a letter in the sky in his plane. Occasionally, the plane would dump him out, & he would parachute to Sesame Street, the draw the letter with his hand.

  • If being tickled had a sound, it would definitely be :38-:55 :)

  • ROFL 1:26-1:42 reminds me of the beginning of Fat Albert!!! :D

  • Ah whatever happened to the good old glory days of simple stop-motion animation? Now our kids have to deal with pop culture icons like Katy Perry and Usher. Uhh...

  • I think the sound is coming from a Moog synthesizer. Using pitch shifting, modulation, and filter sweeping. These sketches were some of the coolest things back when SS ruled my childhood. PB&J + chicken noodle soup + ice cold milk + one hour of Sesame Street = an absolute perfect afternoon

  • @briansky10 His name is Arril Johnson.
