@HAPPYWEALTHYME ACTUALLY THE OTHER 1956 CLIP WITH TEBALDI AND JUSSI BJORLING IS TRANSPOSED DOWN AND THEY SING HIGH B-- NOT HIGH C LIKE IN THIS ONE BUT YES ALBANESE ALWAYS HAD A FINE FREE EASY TOP.

"Armd" Forces Radio? Who knew?

Superb.

Her high C at the end is not as strained as Tebaldi's at the end from the other Bjorling clip. I love how her role playing comes across in this.
-
@sirenadellopera Vocally it's a huge challenge, but very beautiful.

What can one say? It does not get any better. I have had the great honor of knowing Her and hearing Her. It is something that one cannot explain. Opera when sung by great artists is like magic.
-
It was his habit on stage to turn his head from side to side as he sang so that all in the audience could hear.

@Erdrick345 Everyone seems to prefer either De Los Angeles or Tebaldi as Mimi to Bjoerlings spectacular Rodolfo, but although they of course were bettervoiced (Tebaldi is one of the greatest ever), there is a certain feeling about Albanese. She seems so vulnerable, so truthful, an ideal Mimi. Tebaldi was almost to good a singer, if you know what I mean. But of course the video of Bjoerling/Tebaldi is...Voices straight from heaven. Also Bjoerling sings with more feeling than here.

Well, Bjoerling owned the role of Rudolfo and certainly Albanese and Victoria de los Angeles are very fine sopranos, but as Toscanini remarked, "She (Tibaldi) has the voice of an angel." If one watches the video on You Tube of Bjoerling and Tibaldi singing this piece one can only conclude that this is a definitive rendition of Soave, but I don't wish to denigrate Albanese or anyone else's ability.
He gets the tender sound before the end perfectly and he always had a great high C.

Isn't it so perfectly, perfectly composed, vocally, musically, and dramatically? Che meraviglia.
