  • Ani DiFranco is my hero. I hope that someday I can flow like her. What an amazing woman. Thank you so much for posting this!!

  • @HippyFever You're most welcome, as all all of you who dug on this. Peace!

  • Awesomeness! Her flow is killing me. All her poems are brilliant but this is one of my faves! Finally I get to see it live. She never did that one when I saw her. Many thanks ;)

  • @BadFluffy "You're most welcome. Glad to see that there are plenty of us still out there that not only get it, but give a damn in the process. ;) Peace!

  • <3 I absolutely love this woman. Thank you for posting, this is beautiful. :)

  • @SqueakyQueen - You are most welcome. I saw this when it originally aired, and was taken aback by not just the words but the flow. Admittedly I wasn't really into her music before I saw this, mainly because I had not heard it. After this though, I think I pretty much own every CD that she has ever put out, and some bootleg live stuff that is amazing. I've always wanted to see her live, just working too much for the past 5 years. Ugh. I need a break! Again, glad you enjoyed it!

  • I am in love with her and her intelligence you can tell she meant every word and the way it comes out of her mouth OMG,I could never get up and do that even though I write everyday she gives me hope ...one day one day...

  • Sick reads [:

  • Beautiful woman, melts me every time I listen to her speak

  • @v4mped that's an excellent interpretation. thing is, I don't think people understood many of her messages for a very long time. it's a shame many people will not get to know Ani.

  • I hear your words. truth hurts at times

  • She looks a bit stoned.I'd be even more impressed by her flowing if it turned out she was stoned.

  • My interpretation is that the man in the penthouse is not God, but a representative of the rich who have just as much power in a capitalist state. He is not phased by those suffering below, reflecting the increasing gap between rich and poor, and ultimate inequity. She sees no reason in trying to love, but rather in helping those in a similar position, sending a warning to those above, that if they don't begin to implement change, she, and the others, will 'come up', demanding it, or else.

  • @SkyHigh87 how do you interpret this poem?

  • @Xxladyem14xX i could be wrong but this is how i interpret the poem. she speaks on a man in the penthouse who is God and he's watching the pathetic people of the world. she's had several negative experiences with men and God isn't helping her, just watching. she hasnt been satisfied and shes become used to her circumstances but if God doesn't make things better she's "coming up" which to me means shes committing suicide or she's going to make some demands.. thats what i got from the poem
