  • Thank you so much for having posted this. I had read reviews on her Desdemona and wished I had seen her.

I miss her, she had such sensibility & acting abilities... Having seen her on stage as Tatiana in 1998 & become fan, her early death shocked me so (throat cancer like Lucia Popp : what a sordid fate !)

  • Breast and liver cancer actually

  • she was the most wonderful singer I've ever heard. She was the best good friend and an amazing soul. God bess you, Susan. Good memories we had.

  • what an Elsa, Ariadne, Kaiserin, Senta, Chrysothemis, Sieglinde she would have been...

  • She was my class mate at School, she used to sing for us in morning assembly. We had nicknames for each other,

    R.I,P Freckle Face..

    Froggy

  • Goodness, she sure could both act and sing. She was simply amazing... how sad- she's no longer here with us physically, but she is so in spirit and through her beautiful voice.

  • heartbreaking...can feel Desdemonas terror, forboding, pathos....touching...

  • superb! Still hoping that they release her Katja Kabanova (from Amsterdam) on DVD sometime... Was one of her last performances and truly magnificent.

  • Spine-tingling.

  • Amen, mrrk.

  • After hearing those Cosi clips, I'd recognize this voice anywhere. Chilcott was just lovely, her voice as much as her face, and we're so lucky to have these videos to remember her...

  • It was my great privilege to partner Susan in Rusalka at ENO in 1995. She was a wonderful colleague and her early death was one of the cruellest things to happen to the lyric world for many years - it's easy to see in this wonderful clip what a magnificent singing actress the world lost.
