Billie Holiday singing, "Fine and Mellow," recorded December 8, 1957. I hesitated to put this on YT, it is on here a lot, but this audio has been remastered and restored for the CD Ken Burns Jazz.

Actually I was wrong. The album came out in 1939. 1937 was the year that Billie first sang Strange Fruit in a public circle, I believe at Cafe Society. She did put on the B side of Fine and Mellow.

I think the first time Billie Holiday recorded this song was in 1937. On the B-Side of this album was the song "Strange Fruit." I love Billie Holiday. When I hear her sing, I wish I could travel back in time just to see her live. That would be incredible. Thanks for posting this. I have to check on my date though, I could be wrong.

Hi to me, you putting up this fine song with these many picture is a great find, thank you very much. I have loved Ms Holiday practically all my life her spirit lives forever in my heart, her message is still clear and strong whether it comes from a scratchy old 78 or as you say this remastered version. Thanks again and thank you Ms Holiday for all you have given to this world

@Jxoox...thank you so much for your wonderful comment...I appreciate that...and I'm glad you enjoyed the video so much...I almost didn't put this video up...because the song is on YT a lot by Billie...but I decided to do my own video with the slideshow of all the photos of her...so I'm glad I did it now...thank you! :))
