New ad. Family research Council.

http://blogs.cbn.com/thebrodyfile/archive/2009/07/29/harry-and-louise-are-now...

It blasts Obama Health Care with an abortion twist. Pretty clever. I had no idea the famous 90's couple of Harry and Louise are now Evangelicals. I wonder if they speak in tongues.

The Obama administration may not like it but FRC gets style points for creativity.

The ad is going to run in Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Alaska, Louisiana, and Nebraska. The group's President Tony Perkins says this:

"In a world of health care rationing, the elderly, the handicapped and the frail are the most likely to lose their lives because care was delayed or denied. Under the government-run plans in England and Canada, the countries'sick and elderly aren't getting the care they need. As a result, their system isn't improving lives but prematurely taking them. Here in the United States, President Obama's rationing would mean that you and I could be denied basic care while our tax dollars are used to underwrite a mother choosing to end the life of her unborn child.

"On the other key life-and-death decisions there is an active commitment on the part of Senate Democratic Leadership to allow the rationing of health care. This is what the White House and Congress mean when they say they will cut costs. It means cutting off your access to health care services by creating the legal authority to do so, while stopping any provision becoming law that would prevent rationing.

Look, The White House will argue that Perkins' claim of rationing is simply bogus but the fact that the rationing argument is gaining steam and it's going to be up to the President to make the case that any sort of public option won't lead to rationing. If the health care reform bill includes a co-op option that could bode well for the administration because it takes "government takeover" language off the table and will require interest groups who are trying to kill Obama's health care reform plan to rethink their strategy with limited time.

  • Euthanasy is something bad. It's eveil - against the humanity.

  • This is one of the worst ad's I have ever seen. The acting is worse than Days of Our Lives!

  • Our future generation being denied the right to live? Your right! We should put the rights of something with barely 100 cells vaugly resembling a shrimp above the rights of the mother, even if it is for serious health reasons and cases of incest and rape!

I'm being sarcastic. The "Pro-Life" people are fucking ridiculous. If it is a necessary medical procedure, insurance should cover it, regardless of what the hypocrites have to say.

  • MichealnChristine...you people have already drunk the Kool-Aid. If you think Planned Parenthood is about 'family planning and prenatal care' primarily, then there is no reasoning with you. The blind lead the blind....

  • @morningjoy423 If you believe this ad you have no right to call yourself a member of the "greatest" generation. Eisenhower was a man of nuance and was incredibly intelligent and would certainly have never approved of this sort of dishonesty! As if the plan parenthood budget (which is mostly family planning and prenatal care) has anything to do with Medicare! You should be ashamed of yourself for wanting to spread this, or even more ashamed if you actually think it is true!

  • Oh for god sakes. "PAY" for an Abortion? 80% of all abortions are non-procedure. If you are less then 3 months pregnant they give you a prescription for birth control pills and tell you to take x number on day 1, x on day 2 and so on. That means that the average abortion costs $30 as opposed to his "surgery" which maybe cost $200k. That's a bit of price point difference.

  • The process that insures these old folks is MEDICARE. What would've insured people is the PUBLIC OPTION. 2 entirely different entities, ok, folks? So, no, he would not "be forced to pay for abortions." At least not until you stretch the logic.

  • God these people are dumb. They pretend that if there's no 'federal funding of abortions', we'll stop 50% or more of abortions! Get real! Losing any federal funding would probably reduce the number by 1 or 2%, a pittance. And besides, if a woman were REALLY desperate enough, I'm sure she'd find a way to get the abortion and pay for it somehow.

  • That couple in the ad probably didn't even read a single page of the bill. They just believe whatever their far-right overlords tell them. If the FRC told them Jesus is coming tomorrow, they'd probably quit their jobs and party and whatnot today.

  • It's really the Far Right (bullshit) Council.
