Discussing PM David Cameron's claim that the UK can afford to piss money up a wall on "international aid", when we have to pay increasing taxes, to give way to countries with space industries, nuclear weapons, and huge armies.

Recorded from Sky News, Newspaper review, 27 May 2011.

  • @TurboCooperMan Unfortunately politicians think they can fix anything. within the next 20 years there will be a 1 world goverment New World Order set up from within the United Nations the rich countries feeding the poor Communism for want of a better word Don't worry all those countries you mentioned have a debt problem here in Australia our Labour government have managed to get us into 42 Bln dollar debt while our resource sector is performin well our tourism and other exprts suffer from high$

  • Bah! If they really wanted to help them, they'd go in, set up a inturum government, establish a Social Credit to allow the countries to afford to build up their infistructure. Meanwhile, as they show more and more responsability, they are given more and more personal power over their government untill full autonomy is re-established.

  • @Ckererec Good line of thinking. I would just send in troops and make them protectorates. Just long enough to get them back on their feet. And, in return, the occupying country would make money off the industry there. Though is the possibility of corruption and abuse, it is much less likely than if you try to throw money at the problem.

  • @tojoconfused But, in the end, that pretty much makes all the countries worse off. People and entire countries who don't know what to do with their newfound wealth will burn the money through corruption while the modern industrialized world will be brought to it's knees and the entire world would become akin to the Congo or Chad or even Rwanda.

  • "we will meet Britain's international obligations" ... what obligations? Britain's 'compelled' to give-out aid? Someone called it 'the redistribution of wealth from the poor in rich countries, to the rich in poor countries', and part of me tends to agree with that.

  • Tens of billions of aid money has been poured in africa, more than the GDP of many european countries (combined in some cases), yet... africa is still considered the worst place to live on the planet.

I dont think it's possible to save them with direct cash anymore, the bureaucracy here takes 20%, then the bureaucracy in africa takes 20%, then the corruption 40%, then the good warlord takes whatever is left.

If you want to save africa, bump off a warlord or two.

  • international aid is international welfare. Just creates dependency.

  • when is this fucker going to help the poorer people in his Own country? He is a fucking Idiot.!

  • @2010butchd much much less than that...if any at all.
