I'm performing this song on Guitar and Blues Harp. It was written and originally performed by John Mayall in 1967 and it laments the death of the gifted Blues artist JB Lenoir. He died on April 29, 1967 in Urbana, Illinois, aged 38, from a heart attack related to injuries he suffered in a car accident three weeks earlier.
However, in the 60's he struggled to work as a professional musician and for a time took menial jobs and this is reflected in John Mayalls lyrics

  • very haunting yet beautiful, reminds me of the kind of vibe Skip James gets. Great harmonica vibrato as well, how long have you been playing?

  • @dannygboyo Thanks very much. I just recalled how much I liked this John Mayall and the Bluesbreakers song and decided to give it a go. I have been playing harp just for personal enjoyment on and off (more off than on in the last 30 years) for 45 years. I have probably played more in the last 18 months than all my early playing time added together.

  • WOW! This was really an artistic masterpiece all the way around. Soulful vocals, steady guitar, the moaning of the harp and the ever-changing color tints sure set the mood for this piece. This one's goin' straight to my favorites. Beautiful job my friend!

  • @DesertRatDan Hey, thanks ever so much Dan!
