♪♫ All the things you think and say
Float away into space
Done in thought or done in haste
They have no place, they leave no trace

All the things you think and do
Have become a part of you
All your deeds have come to pass
Nothing lasts, nothing lasts

Like a river flowing past your windowpane
Life's never the same
Like the sun you're born to set
You'll die in sin
And be born once again

Now you know, so damn well
That your life is a heaven and a hell
And it's very easy to tell
When you're sick and when you're well

So the secret to this life
Is so very easy to learn
If you ever love another
Never ask for anything in return

Like a river flowing past your windowpane
Life's never the same
Like the sun you're born to set
You'll die in sin
And be born once again

All the things you think and say
Float away into space
Done in thought or done in haste
They have no place, they leave no trace

All the things you think and do
Have become a part of you
All your deeds have come to pass
Nothing lasts, nothing lasts ♪♫

The album cover truly floats away - and good sound quality too.

  • Cheers Simon, yea...it's pukka on the Ω 'phones ☼ ;-j

  • @ELGROOVER

James - For the avoidance of doubt, the floating away of the album cover which you somehow achieved is truly very good indeed. Simon.

  • To SimonThe1st ~ Sony Vegas Movie Maker does all the hard work so I don't have to Simon!

That would be the '3D Fly In/Out' ~ 'Spin Away'. One of the many 'Transitions' on Sony Vegas 9. It's a good intuitive programme that doesn't bust your head too badly as you learn to use it. Quite easy to use after a short while. Still can't get it to make me a cup of tea though ;-j

Thank you so much for uploading this.

There is a live version of Nothing Lasts on YouTube which is worth watching despite the sound quality being poor and there being irritating foreign language sub-titles.

Also on YouTube is the excellent Journey From Eden from the same Steve Miller album (Rupona's channel).

I saw The Steve Miller Band at Knebworth in 1975 - they were on the same bill as The Pink Floyd (and Captain Beefheart !).

    Simon

  • To SimonThe1st ~ My pleasure Simon ☺ thanks for suggesting it! I spotted the Journey From Eden on your playlist and grabbed it already, another great tune. Cheers ☼ ;-j

  • This Album is by far my favorite of Steve Miller's Catalogue seconded only by his classic "Rock Love". I have been unable to find either of these masterpieces on CD and wonder where in the hell you got your copy? Thanks for the post! Any More?

  • A class act without doubt, real music is the SMB !!!

  • Sheer brilliance.
