RC slope flying and crash of my Multiplex DG600 from high speed dynamic soaring at Parker Mountain. Wing failed at spoiler bay. Plane was in sad condition from years of slope flying at this was a Viking funeral of sorts. We had been clocking it on radar all weekend in excess of 135 MPH which wasn't too shabby for a scale ship of 20 years old design. This is the famous Parker Mountain dynamic soaring location in California.

  • the long walk of shame begins with a single step

  • @5quarter

No shame here. The plane was old and falling apart so it got a Viking Funeral as a send-off.

  • Reading your comments, it seems you wanted to destroy the aircraft deliberately.

Bit of a waste really considering it's age & looks... you vould have given it away or sold it?

  • @xoio

It would seem that way at first glance but it had several worn out servos that would require digging them out of the wings plus the fuselage and wings had multiple repairs hidden under layers of repair tape. I felt unsafe flying it around anyone other than myself and friend (hiding behind my truck) on this final mission. It would have been smashed and thrown in the trash otherwise. I just had a different way to smash it other than using my feet.

  • @slickraft What a load of crap! You're under arrest for cruelty to an aircraft!! You have the right to remain silent, anything you say can and shall be used against you in a court of law, you have the right to an attorney.... blah blah blah LOL

Did the wing have a solid or tubular carbon fiber rod for reinforcement?

  • @JaleelJohanson62 Did the wing have a solid or tubular carbon fiber rod for reinforcement?

Neither. It was one of the original Multiplex DG600 kits from 25-30 years ago. It used spring steel wing blades, not tubes. No one was using carbon fiber for hobby stuff in those days.

  • Flew quite well even with one wing.

  • I love your style guy, it screams khaos

  • this was on rc groups and it was called "viking funeral"

  • hm..if the wings have a v-shape of about 20 degrees each side..you should be warned :D...but ok..you are the one to blame ;)

  • @slickraft Just after I asked you the question I read down further and saw that you answered it already. I'm now guilty of being one of those annoying people who ask before they read. LOL

It didn't fly too badly on one wing! LOL

One more thing.. killing a current glider in the future with carbon fiber wing reinforcement might prove to be a challenge. I await your next video! LOL

  • @connickjoseph It's an rc glider, not a beloved pet for God's sake.. One must make room for the new..
