We pitch Fiat's new two-cylinder TwinAir against the pinnacle of the 500 range. The Abarth is faster in a straight line, but is it more fun to drive?

Size matters. And for Fiat, it's a case of the smaller the better with its new TwinAir 900cc two-cylinder engine. On the outside, there's little to distinguish the two-cylinder Fiat from any other 500, but as soon as you turn the ignition key, it's clear that there's a very different powerplant under the bonnet.

  • @khunopie I guess BMW drivers really are dicks. Seriously man, why even bring up your M3, its an a TOTALLY different class than the Fiat 500.

  • idk whats wrong with what he said. he just made a simple opinionated statement. In a quite literal translation he was just stating a very simple statement that most of us would agree with when we exclude price. Now i wouldnt I think Fiats are fucking awesome. but stop jumping all over him it makes you like your defending yourself and if hes comparing an uncomparable car then there is no need to defend these vehicles. but in a realistic translation hes being douchebag...lol

  • I wish Fiat sold the twin-air here in the states.

  • If you want a performance compact car that gets good gas mileage... buy a Mini, seriously.

  • Can you get the abarth with a 5 gear manual, instead of flappy paddles?

  • They are thrashing these two models very very harshly.

Current average on my 1.4 Lounge is anything between 44 to 48mpg (UK).

The Semi Auto box featured on the Abarth is an optional extra, just go with regular manual for a better drive if you do want one. But I will agree a bit with the mention of suspension, Regular 1.4's have a harsher semi sports setup on them and my god does it bounce, 1.2 and twinair are very relaxed in comparison!

  • that vest is gayyyyyyyyyyy

  • i went to look at the chrysler ypilson today which is based on the 500 and use's the same engines, and when i came to start the car up it sounded like a quad bike!

  • @SilvrBckGorilla i somehow doubt taht. but that is ma own personal view.

  • still I think this is a couple of cool cars.

  • @metroperson They have a similar, yet different petrol mileage system than what we have in the U.S., as does most other countries in the world.

  • i whound whont the Abarth with the hard top and dont care about the flapey grae box thing
