MURSI GIRL REMOVES HER LIP PLATE FOR ME FOR FOLKS BACK HOME TO SEE. A LOCAL CUSTOM WHERE THE LOWER LIP IS CUT SEPARATELY FROM THE CHIN AND THE LIP IS PLACED IN A LIP PLATE AND MADE LARGER BY THE SIZE OF THE PLATE. THE LARGER THE PLATE THE MORE BEATIFUL, VALUABLE AND DESIROUS FOR MARRIAGE THE LADY WILL BE. THE BOTTOM TEETH ARE REMOVED FOR THE PLATE TO FIT. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROCEDURE.

It is a Nat. Geographic experience. It is hard to believe people still live this way. Life span is short, 3 out of 5 babies die by age of 5, women are so mistreated and do most of the work. they are happy people and when they hear the good news about Jesus and believe, you can't believe the change in their life...now they have hope. we don't try to change their culture, we try to help with living conditions but we share the love of God with them.

For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, will not perish but have eternal life. God Loves you and has sent His only son to die for you personally. He that believes not is condemned already because he has not believed in the only way for life, eternal life and a life of peace. Peter cursed Jesus and God forgive you, if you ask Him, he will forgive you. Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Ask Jesus to save you. Thanks

If you see the misery and poverty and hardship, your heart just breaks. We can help with all the external things but if a person's heart is not changed, he has no hope. We give these people hope with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Their culture is cruel, horrible and the atrocities, mostly against women is brutal. Female circumcision is performed on nearly all girls, who have no choice. We teach them truth, every person must look at what Jesus said and determine, if you want life or death.

I serve n missions as a builder & help n water, sanitation, housing & education. I build homes & build, teach them how & also how 2 live healthy. SIM,(Serving in Missions-Goggle it) is a Christian mission, 43 countries, helping & sharing Christ. A person's heart must b changed for a real change n life. U can still love the tacos but have a diff. goal of sharing Christ with the work U do. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. Peace Corp, is one way, but Jesus eternal benefits.

Plates are made of clay. In public events they have some real big and nicely painting ones. Some are made of wood. The lower lip is actually separated and the lip plates start small and work up to a larger one. The Bride prices is more with a bigger lip plate. I was on a Christian there and these people are received Jesus Christ as their Savior. We teach better farming, drill water wells, have nurses and medicine and teach sanitary practices.

I. I served with SIM missions out of Charlette, NC. They are a non -denominational mission operating in 43 foreigh countries. You must be a born again Christian to serve with them. If you have a skill and can help they would be glad to have you. You must raise your own support and they help you get to the mission you want to serve in. You can get the information on the web at Sim, Goggle it up. It is a great experience. Thanks

It you look closely the bottom 4 teeth are removed so that the round plate can complete the circle inside her mouth. At the end you can see her top teeth but her bottom 4 middle teeth are gone. Thanks, God bless you.

These are amazing people. The women do most of the work, gather, carry water, cook and have the babies. I stayed with them 5 weeks in a mud/manure hut. No phone, electricity,tv, radio, water (except dirty river water or rain caught in buckets when it does rain. They have nothing and work so hard and are happy. As a missionary there we drill water wells, teach better nutrician, and growing techniques. It is a wonderful culture and God is really a blessing to them

A woman wear a lip plate to be attractive. The larger the plate the more she is desirable for marriage. Lip plates started when slave traders were capturing women for slaves to sell over the world. It is thought that they started the lip separation and inserting a plate around the lower lip to avoid being captured for slavery. (It looks gross to most of the world and is very painful) Not all the women do the lip plates.
