Who does the best version and who doesn't is a matter of personal opinion and nothing more nor less. Religion doesn't make a particle of difference. This is a wonderful version, but I recommend listening to Billie Holiday's effort as well just as a counterpoint.

I'd exchange my ability to read music for the innate creativity of The Beatles,Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Water's,Elmore James etc etc etc. Just my opinion of course.

Oh, yessss. Kate Bush is blessed. Love her interpretation very very much. Knew the ones sung by Ella F. and Barbra S. I am a huge Babra Streisand fan but this version is very much to the point I would say. Perfect!

Although I'm an atheist, but raised as a roman catholic, I can assure you that there's little in common with traditionalism in catholicism... It has actually more in common with repression of instincts, and, of course, behaviours that are judged as immoral such as having sex before marriage, use of condoms etc... it is more related to taboo matters and moral values that is perceived as distant by most catholics, whom are obliged to comply moral directives to ascend to heaven, (buls**ts) XD
