Perle Noire the Black Pearl wins Best Debut at Miss Exotic World

Perle Noire, the Black Pearl from Bustout Burlesque in New Orleans won Best Debut at The Burlesque Hall of Fame's 2008 Miss Exotic World pageant in Las Vegas. The competition was held at the Palms casino. The winning performance is a tribute to one of Perle Noire's idols, Josephine Baker. The Exotic World performance was less than half the length of the original piece as performed in the Bustout Burlesque show. Bustout Burlesque does not use recorded music tracks, and this piece is normally performed with the accompaniment of a live five-piece traditional New Orleans jazz band. For the Miss Exotic World pageant, each dancer's "underboob" was required to be covered. This is why yellow feathers were added under the breasts (which also makes this video safe for YouTube). After Perle Noire's win at Exotic World, David Cuthbert from the New Orleans Times Picayune wrote, "As I have said before, Perle Noire is the most energetic exotic dancer I have seen since I was a kid, when legends like Lilly Christine the Cat Girl prowled Bourbon Street. Noire as herself is astonishing enough, but in her tribute to Josephine Baker, she is slick, sensual and sensational."

I loved this, I just started Burlesque and have my first solo on Jan 8th. I was getting really nervous until I saw you perform. Wow I want to be like you whenI grow up....

As I recall, no one connected with the crowd until Pearl came out. They were all just kinda going through the motions. Also I was cold and my feet were wet from standing in the pool trying to get a good view. The competion picked up for me once it got to duos and groups. But some of the single performers were really just going through the motions. NOT ALL OF THEM. Those were the ones that bored me. I have a vid where I am just going through the motions, and it is sooo dull.
