This is my first saltwater (marine) aquarium. The display portion of the tank has a capacity of 80 gallons. It measures 48 inches long, about 18 inches wide and about 24 inches tall. It has a built in overflow with a durso standpipe so it is nice and quiet.

I have a sand substrate with partial live sand and partial regular sand. I am hoping that I can get some good coralline algae growing on my rocks to make things a little more colorful. The large rocks are just plain lava rock that I purchased fairly inexpensive at a quarry nearby, the smaller rocks are actually pieces of limestone that I hope will act as a bit of a PH buffer to keep the water nice for the tank inhabitants.

I built the hood myself and got the light fixture at Home Depot. The light fixture holds two 36 inch T5 lights. I use a wet dry trickle filter in an open 3-chamber sump. My return pump puts out about 900 gph to a split return that has an anti siphon vent hole.

I hope you liked seeing my tank. I have had it up for a little over a month and I am thoroughly enjoying this hobby.

  • @kingpin2746 At that time, it was just lava rock and not live rock. The rock is very much live now and well covered in coralline algae. I will need to upload another video to show the tank as it is now.

  • Really nice tank but you actually di have enough fish!! they will grow!!

  • @nick360700 I realize that they will grow, but I'd like to see a little more diversity like a couple tangs, a royal gramma, a flame angel and a picasso or niger trigger. I'd like to maybe get some corals and an anemone too, but we will see how things go.
