@dracdrum no mics. it was completely "acoustic". the only mics were those used for soloists. though idk if they were used for this song
-
@stealthedscout -sorry, what I meant was how far into the song did you listen since everything mixes better after the instruments join the drums
-
@stealthedscout It sounds like they ran the mics through compression which ruins dynamics... college/university A/V techs should really stop this....
-
@stealthedscout the recording device used has built in compression which means quiet parts are raised while loud passages are leveled off, since the cymbals started the song they seemed too loud however when everything else comes in the mix improves...how long did you listen anyway?

our school big band plays exactly the same song on 4th june 2010 in gehrden, hanover, germany but we play it a lot better
-
Hey that was a nice job! My school is playing this song and I have that trumpet solo. I like this song. It puts me in a good mood. The trumpet player needs a little work though but from the looks of it, i bet its only parents out there so they dont kno the difference. :)

good big band effort, would of preferred a grand to be in it though. still good effort.

Our 2nd Jazz Band @ Paul Laurence Dunbar High,is working on this exact arrangement.
-
Hey!!! What's the info. on this arrangement? I've been looking for this version but it's no where to be found, I've seen it few times. What's it called???
we were playing a big band arrangement rather than the combo version. And personally, i think the CYMBALS were fine for a big band arrangement, idk about the symbols though.
